Frequently Asked Questions

Diamonds

Natural diamonds are formed deep within the earth over billions of years and are mined. Lab-grown diamonds are produced in a laboratory using either High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) or Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) technology. Both are chemically, physically and optically identical - a lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, not a simulant. The key differences are origin, price and long-term resale value. Natural diamonds carry rarity value and tend to hold their value better over time. Lab-grown diamonds are significantly more affordable for the same size and quality grade. We stock both and will give you an honest assessment of each based on your budget expectations.

For many customers, lab-grown diamonds offer exceptional value - you can typically purchase a larger or higher-quality stone for the same budget as a smaller natural diamond. However, lab-grown diamonds do not hold resale value as well as natural stones. If budget is the primary consideration, lab-grown is a smart choice. If long-term value retention matters to you, a natural diamond is the better option. We will always give you both sides honestly.

Yes. Diamonds are available with a certification from internationally recognised grading laboratories including the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) for natural mined diamonds, and IGI (International Gemological Institute) for lab-grown diamonds. A certificate provides independent verification of the stone's graded characteristics. We can advise on certification options when you visit.

We source our diamonds from trusted suppliers worldwide, selecting only stones that meet our standards for cut, quality and integrity. Every diamond we stock is responsibly sourced and conflict-free.

Custom & Bespoke

Yes - custom engagement rings are one of our core services. Our in-house master jeweller handcrafts bespoke pieces to your design, from initial consultation through to finished piece.

The process typically takes between four and eight weeks depending on the time of the year and design complexity. We can accommodate rush orders on a case-by-case basis.

It begins with a personal consultation in-store or initial by phone where we discuss your design, stone preferences and your preferred investment. We then produce CAD drawings for your approval, source the appropriate materials and handcraft the piece entirely in house by our master jeweller. You'll have input at every stage, and we'll provide a fixed quote before any work begins. View our process here (link to our process under bespoke)

Not at all. With 38 years of expertise, we are here to guide you. Whether you have a specific vision, a collection of inspirations, or no starting point at all, we specialise in transforming your ideas into a beautiful handcrafted design.

Repairs & Remodelling

Yes. We accept all jewellery for repair regardless of where it was purchased or made. Bring your piece in and we will assess it, explain what is needed and provide a quote before any work begins.

Our workshop handles ring resizing, re-tipping of claws, stone re-setting, clasp repairs, chain soldering, polishing, rhodium plating and full remodelling of existing pieces and much more.

Yes. Remodelling is one of our specialities - transforming an inherited or outdated piece into something new. We can retain original stones and metals where possible and build an entirely new design around them. Book a consultation to discuss what's possible.

In most cases, yes. Resizing is one of the most common repairs we carry out. Bring your ring in and we'll assess the construction and let you know honestly what's involved. Most resizes are completed within a few days.

Care & Maintenance

Clean diamond jewellery regularly using warm water, a soft-bristled brush and a small amount of mild dish soap. Rinse well and dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid exposure to chlorine, bleach and harsh chemicals. Remove jewellery before swimming, exercising or manual work. Store pieces individually to prevent scratching. Complimentary in-store cleans are available at any time. Refer to our care guide here (link to care guide).

We recommend having your diamond jewellery, particularly engagement rings and wedding bands - professionally inspected at least once a year. Over time, everyday wear can loosen settings and wear claws, often without any visible sign. An annual check ensures everything remains secure, your stones are properly protected, and your piece continues to look its best for years to come. We offer complimentary inspections and cleans in-store - no appointment necessary.
